Phantom Blade Zero launch trailer confirms three PS5 physical editions in 2027

CONFIRMED

S-GAME has released the launch trailer for Phantom Blade Zero and confirmed that physical Standard, Deluxe and Ultimate editions are coming to PS5, Gematsu reports. The discs arrive in 2027, after the game’s digital launch on October 29, 2026. That settles months of questions about whether PS5 players would get a boxed copy at all.

What we know

According to Gematsu, S-GAME announced on October 22, 2026, alongside the launch trailer, that Phantom Blade Zero will get three physical PS5 editions: Standard, Deluxe and Ultimate. All three are slated for 2027. No specific month or day has been given.

The digital release comes first. Gematsu reports the game launches on PS5 and PC, via Steam and the Epic Games Store, on October 29, 2026. FullCleared and KeenGamer report that preloading opens October 26 at 7:00 PM PT, and the game unlocks October 28 at 7:00 PM PT, which lines up with 10:00 AM Beijing time on October 29.

For digital buyers, Dot Esports lists the Standard Edition at $59.99 and the Deluxe Edition at $69.99. No physical pricing has been announced for any of the three disc editions.

This also closes the book on the no-disc theory. When preorders opened on August 11, 2026, PS5 preorders were digital-only, according to Notebookcheck and FullCleared. Notebookcheck reported on August 16 that a disc version might still happen, and on August 18 that preorders were strong despite the possible lack of a disc and demo. S-GAME’s announcement now confirms the disc is real, just not at launch.

What is rumored

The one edition-specific detail circulating is a collectible steel case for the Ultimate Edition. KeenGamer, Noisy Pixel and Dot Esports report it, citing the end of the launch trailer and an S-GAME post on X. Gematsu’s summary does not mention it, and we have not found a store listing. Treat it as likely but unconfirmed until it shows up in an official edition breakdown or retail listing.

The other rumor concerns file size. PlayStation Game Size, an X account that tracks PlayStation Store backend data, lists the PS5 version at 134.857 GB, a figure picked up by TheGamer, Notebookcheck and others. Outlets generally describe the account as reliable, but the number is unofficial and S-GAME has not confirmed it. Some outlets have suggested the size may explain why there was no disc at launch. That link is speculation; S-GAME has not given a reason for the delay.

What we don’t know yet

The big gap is exactly what separates the three physical editions. Beyond their names, S-GAME has not detailed, in anything Gematsu reported, what the Standard, Deluxe and Ultimate discs each include. We also don’t know whether the physical Deluxe matches the digital Deluxe’s contents.

Still missing:

  • A release date for the physical editions beyond “2027”
  • Physical prices for any of the three editions
  • Whether the three editions launch together or on separate dates
  • Whether the full game fits on the disc or requires a download
  • Why S-GAME held the disc back, if it ever explains

What it means

If you want to play on day one, digital is your only option, with preload starting October 26. If you collect boxed PS5 games, you now know a disc is coming, but you will be waiting until sometime in 2027 with no price yet.

For anyone weighing the Ultimate Edition for a steel case, hold off until S-GAME or a retailer lists the contents. And if storage is tight, the reported 134.857 GB figure is worth keeping in mind as a rough guide, though it is not official. We will update this once edition contents, prices and a physical date are announced.
