CONFIRMED
Rayman Legends Retold is giving PS5 players a free Astro Bot costume, and getting it takes almost no effort. Ubisoft confirmed on the PlayStation Blog that the outfit unlocks on your first visit to Victor Velour, the game’s resident tailor. The game launches December 3 on PS5 and PS5 Pro.
What we know
The unlock is simple. According to the PlayStation Blog post from October 28, written by Lucy O’Brien, Director, Editorial Communications at Ubisoft, here is how it works:
- Play Rayman Legends Retold on PS5 or PS5 Pro.
- Visit Victor Velour, the game’s tailor, at his costume shop.
- On that first visit, the Astro Bot costume is yours.
There is no purchase and no extra download mentioned. Push Square, citing the PlayStation Blog, describes it as a free costume built into the game that unlocks once you meet Victor Velour in his shop. Gematsu reports the same unlock condition.
Ubisoft confirmed the costume is exclusive to PlayStation 5. Push Square reports it appears only in the PS5 version. That matters because the game isn’t a PlayStation exclusive: Gematsu lists Rayman Legends Retold for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2 and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store), all on December 3.
The PlayStation Blog says the outfit was a collaboration between Ubisoft Milan, Ubisoft Montpellier and Team Asobi, the studio behind Astro Bot. The post also includes an interview with Guillaume Arvieu, Art and World Director, and Quentin Chaillet, Lead Character Artist, about how the costume was made.
What is rumored
Leaks reported by Push Square in May 2026 claimed the game would include outfits inspired by Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. While the PlayStation Blog post covers only the Astro Bot costume, Ubisoft has officially confirmed Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 crossover skins for Rayman Legends Retold, as reported by The Gamer.
Those leaks also pointed to an October 1 launch, a date that also appeared in an earlier Smash Jump report. That date no longer stands: the PlayStation Blog gives December 3 as the PS5 and PS5 Pro release date. Ubisoft hasn’t explained the change in the sources we have.
What we don’t know yet
The sources don’t say how far into the game you reach Victor Velour’s shop. It could be early or a few levels in, and we won’t guess.
We also don’t know whether more PlayStation-themed costumes are planned, or whether the Clair Obscur outfits from the leaks are real. Ubisoft hasn’t detailed any PS5 Pro-specific features beyond confirming the game is coming to the console, and no pricing is covered in the sources we have.
What it means
If you’re picking up Rayman Legends Retold on PS5, you don’t need to do anything special. Play normally, stop by Victor Velour’s shop, and Astro Bot’s design is in your wardrobe for free. No pre-order bonus or paid add-on is involved, based on what Ubisoft has announced.
For anyone deciding which platform to buy on, the costume is a small but real reason to pick PS5, since Push Square reports it’s absent from other versions. We’ll update if Ubisoft confirms anything about the rumored Clair Obscur outfits before December 3.
